fishing from the galata bridge (dusk)

galata bridge (fishing in late afternoon)Day 43: On our last evening in Istanbul we took a stroll over the Galata Bridge which spans the Golden Horn and, if you are travelling by tram, takes you from Sultanahmet towards the and the main street to be seen on, Istakal Caddesi, and the happening Taksin Square precinct.

Everyone was out for a fish, dropping over the side of the bridge (past the restaurants on the bottom deck) and reeling in little biters that looked to my untrained eyes like a cross between a pilchard and and a mackeral. A bucketload of these 12 centimetre whoppers and you’d have enough for a family feed.

Did you have one of the famous fish sandwiches that they sell on the shore?

Quite delicious but the food poisoning tends to negate that.

Belated Happy Birdy to you, Andy D! Wish you were here to celebrate it (actually, more to the point, wish we were there!). Big hugs and lotsa love.

Mmmmmm you see whereever you go you can’t avoid your past! You vego you simply drawn to fishing.
I am sure the size of the catch is all relevant to something foreign. Just very different to the size of your dads catch in Norway.
