kate overlooking gerainger fjord

kate pounder looking great
It’s been a while coming but early on I promised to review the Sony Alpha A100 digital SLR camera that we chose to buy for the trip. Essentially, the pictures tell the story.

We’ve been very impressed with the quality of the photos and the relative ease of use. Neither Kate or I are professional photographers but we’ve mastered enough of the easy functions of the camera to produce some pics that we are really happy with. Kate here was pictured using the simple “portrait” function which keeps the foreground subject in focus while giving a nice blur to the background. (Of course, it’s also handy having an incredibly beautiful backdrop, in this case Norway’s Gerainger Fjord. Not to mention my good-looking subject!)

The other seriously good feature of the camera is its “Super Steady Shot” function which reduces camera shake even at reasonably long shutter speeds. This has been particularly handy when we’ve taken pictures indoors when choosing not to use flash. Even for long exposures (half a second or more), the camera produces sharp pictures which have exceeded our expectations.
