travel ready haircut
Day -6: I took my life into my hands on the weekend when I decided to get a travel-ready haircut in preparation for the trip. The danger didn’t come from an unqualified barber in the backstreets of Bondi Junction, but the fact that I proceeded with this dangerous plan without informing Kate.
Fortunately I’ve escaped without so much as a censure. Despite previous warnings by my devoted wife that if I cut my hair off, it may never grow back, she seems to have adapted fairly well to the change, even to the point of claiming that I have a “nicely shaped head”.
Advantages of a short haircut while on the road include:
- no need to pack a hairbrush or even a comb (saves 50 grams packing weight);
- no need to give difficult instructions to foreign barbers; and
- provides Andrew with an excuse to get a haircut that would otherwise be prohibited (contributed by Kate).
