why norway?

Tim skiing in NorwayDay -31: Why Norway? Well, that’s where my brother Tim has been working for the last few years. As a marine scientist and aquaculture expert, Norway is where it has all been happening for him. Fishing is a major industry throughout Scandinavia and there’s plenty of European money for research to ensure that the industry remains viable. My dad and uncle Clyde will be visiting Tim about a month after we are there to assist with a catch and tag operation, which I know they are both looking forward to.

Tim will be very generously taking time off work to take us hiking through a network of huts in the Norwegian countryside. Apparently they’re regularly restocked with supplies so we won’t need to carry 4 day’s worth of food with us. As this will be the first stop on our trip, we won’t have reached “peak travelling fitness”, so that’s quite a relief!

Average daytime summer temperatures while we are in Norway will be around 17-18 degrees Celsius. A bit nippy but not too bad! All up we will be there for a week before hopping on a cheap flight from Bergen back to the UK to catch up with some expat friends.
