our hut at gerainger, end of geraingerfjord, norway

gerainger hut viewour hut just outside gerainger, norway

Day 7: It was almost too good to be true that we were able to rock into Gerainger (the little town at the end of the spectacular Gerainger Fjord) late on a Saturday afternoon and find ourselves a small hut looking back into town. We were worried that arriving after lunch on a Saturday we might find ourselves with nowhere to stay.

Once again the room was basic and this time genuinely tiny (what you see in the photo is what you get) but the 300 Kroner (A$60) asking price was very reasonable, the showers were hot and free and the spectacular view back into Gerainger in the twilight was truly magnificent.

So much in Norway is ludicrously expensive. Fortunately, there is a strong competitive market economy in camping huts which helps to keep the price reasonable - so bring on National Competition Policy!
