from trollstigen to geiranger fjord
Day 7: We continued along the road from Trollstigen going from one incredible valley to the next, trying to pick the fjords from the mountain lakes. (Hint: fjords are salty and at sea level; lakes are freshwater and at any altitude). The sheer scale of the natural beauty in Norway is frankly hard to comprehend. Possibly with the exception of central Oslo, I can’t recall being in a place in Norway which didn’t have a view which we would die for in (flat, arid) Australia. At times it was quite overwhelming.
And then we rounded another corner to arrive at our resting place for the evening - Geiranger, the cute little hamlet at the end of the spectacular Geiranger Fjord. One of the three most beautiful fjords in Norway, it’s a narrow strip of deep blue water with craggy mountain outcrops pressing in on either side - with some impressive waterfalls splashing down every few hundred metres for good measure. Wow.

This is surreal in it’s beauty. If all Norway looks like this you must be in heaven. These wonderful pictures really have made me want to see it for myself, even if I have to mortgage my, come to think of it I don’t have anything to mortgage. Even if I have to teach 10,000 more EFL classes. That shouldn’t be hard. ![]()
