Kevin07: Taking it to the Taj Mahal
Day 100: What better place to spend our hundredth day on the road than the Taj Mahal? And what better place to unveil our Kevin07 campaign gear?
Here, at the Taj Mahal, we slammed the Howard Government for wasting millions of dollars of taxpayers’ money on government advertising, called on the Prime Minister to end the phony election campaign and name the date to let the Australian people decide and we backed Kevin Rudd’s plans for an education revolution, action on climate change and restoring fairness in the workplace.
With all this slamming, calling and backing going on, Indian visitors to the Taj Mahal didn’t know quite what to make of it, however it made us a little less homesick as the election approaches!
The Kevin07 Seven Wonders Challenge: Let’s go a step further and issue a challenge to all Australian travellers out there who want Kevin Rudd to be PM. There are seven wonders of the world - can we get a show of support for Kevin07 in front of each one before election day? Let’s call it the Kevin07 Seven Wonders Challenge.
Update: We’re now official!
Update: Is the photo real?

With so many expats hoping for a Kevin Rudd victory, meeting your Seven Wonders challenge should not be a problem. It’s rare to find an Australian overseas who isn’t embarrassed by the Howard Government. I for one will be supporting Kevin07.

Fantastic photo, poundsters, and best of luck with the challenge. I’ll be proudly wearing my Kevin07 in London between now and November.

What are the other 6 wonders that need to be done?

Here are the Seven Wonders in no particular order:
1. Taj Mahal, Agra, India
2. Christ the Redeemer statue, Rio de Janeiro
3. The Colosseum in Rome
4. The Great Wall of China
5. Jordan’s ancient city of Petra
6. The Inca ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru
7. The ancient Maya city of Chichén Itzá in Mexico.
Sadly, we were at Petra earlier in our trip but our Kevin07 gear was yet to arrive. We’ll have to leave it to someone else.

Great photo but is it real? It looks like a photoshop superimposition.

It took a few tries to get the photo right. Because it was taken at first light, I used fill-in flash to light up Kate in the foreground. This gives the photo an oddly-lit look but it was the only way to bring Kevin07 out of the shadows. Our other photos at the Taj Mahal are at www.flickr.com/photos/poundster

Great photo! So depressed that the best I can do would be to get my photo taken in front of an Artarmon transmission tower. (but it would be a great metaphor for Kevin as communicator! he’s getting the message to the people!)

Well, I’ve always wanted to go to Machu Picchu - can we think of a better reason to do so than to oust Johnny-boy?

And I just realised one of my best friends was on the Great Wall 3 days ago!

Um, those aren’t the seven wonders. (Christ the Redeemer, my arse.) You’ve already been to the only one that still exists: the Pyramids at Giza. The ones you’ve listed are bodgy ones voted in by an internet vote organised by some Swiss company, rather than worthy scholars of yore. (The Egyptians refused to participate, but the Pyramids were deemed an ‘honorary’ wonder. Bwa ha ha. The Sydney Opera House missed the cut, but what would the internet know?) Anyway, go Kevin007! Or maybe 008.

Yay! Fame and recognition at last.
You’ll probably get this when you wake up, but it’s on, baby!
24 November… let the games begin.
