oia youth hostel, santorini
Days 22-23: Two days was hardly long enough in Santorini, and we could have spent a week at the fabulous Oia Youth Hostel. And like pretty much everywhere else in Oia, the youth hostel itself was a picture in Santorini white and blue.
A 2 minute walk from the bus terminus at Oia, the town on the northern tip of Santorini, this place was a real find. Clean, roomy and well-run, we chose to stay in the mixed dorm. 16 euros each a night included breakfast of bread, cheese, spreads, OJ, coffee or tea and a piece of cake! For an island which has a well-deserved reputation for expensive food, accommodation and everything else, it was a relief and a pleasure to find a place which was real value for money.
The entertaining and thoughtful owner, Manolis, was a great host, full of useful information and directions for how to get from A to B on the island and tips for elsewhere to visit in Greece. His motto “Don’t worry, be happy”, summed up our experience at the Oia youth hostel. Most highly recommended.
Hotel summary
Dorm room, shared bathroom: US$43 (for two)
In a few words: It’s all good.
