driving in athens
Day 15: No great surprises here, but driving in Athens was possibly one of the most difficult driving experiences in my life!
It wasn’t so much the fact that traffic drifts from lane to lane (I could handle that), but the complete lack of signposted directions out of the city.
One wrong turn - and this was easy to do, as the roads had the habit of splitting into two unsigned alternatives - and you had no way of knowing where you were heading. Road signs appeared only intermittently - and of course less frequently in English.
We had a couple of lucky breaks (and some intelligible directions from a friendly service station attendant) as we tried to find our way onto Highway One out of Athens, but I feel sorry for anyone trying to leave by a less major road.
We were on our way out of Athens towards Delphi and then Mt Olympus.

I bet its as bad as some places in Asia where,at peak hour, people interpret 3 lanes as 5 lanes!
