Day -24: It’s amazing how many little things that you have to do as you are getting ready to go on a big trip. We’ve been ticking them off gradually over the last month or so, but there is sure to be a massive rush right before we go. Recent developments include:

• organising our travel insurance;
• booking a connecting flight from Egypt to New Delhi;
• finding someone who will take care of our little Toyota Yaris while we are away;
• picking out our travel shoes, from Mountain Equipment in Kent Street, Sydney - both on the same invoice so we can claim the GST back when we fly out on the 24th;
• taking delivery of our webcam and digital SLR (reviews to follow shortly).

Among the big things that remain, there’s the matter of handing over all my work to office colleagues who already have far too much work to do and finding friends to occupy our flat while we are away.

All in all, we are on track but we have a very busy few weeks ahead of us.
