cruising on the nile in a little bit of luxury
Days 71-72: It’s sometimes unfairly said that cruise ships are for the newly wed and the nearly dead. As Kate and I still fall into the former category, we were perfectly qualified for two days and nights of luxury travelling from Aswan to Luxor.
After arriving in Aswan we took a look at the various ships docked by the Nile, kicked a few tyres and came to the conclusion that if we were going to take a cruise, we might as well choose a good looking ship, so before long we’d booked ourselves a two-night berth on the on the Radamus II cruise ship, run by the Movenpick hotel chain.
After months of independent travel it was a refreshing change to have other people make the difficult decisions (what to eat, what to see, when to wake up… the list goes on).
The boat was spotless and the food was good. The traditional backpackers’ alternative, going the same way by 20-foot felucca and sleeping rough on the riverbank, now seemed unthinkable.
