To afford these guilty pleasures, we stayed at the Sydney Hostel, where the adequate double room was a meagre 15JD a night. We were probably lucky not to be in the dorm in Room 38, down a further two sets of stairs in an airless basement room, the door of which a former visitor had wryly marked “Alien Workshop”.
