persia hotel, esfahan

Days 86-88: Located at the hotel district of Tahkti Junction, about 15 minutes stroll north from Imam Square, we stayed at the Persia Hotel, where we were clearly the only foreign guests, and had been for some time. Breakfast here was basic but the staff made up for their limited English by looking out for […]

hotel shiraz eram, shiraz

Days 83-85: Located handily on Shiraz’s main drag, this was a comfortable option. There were a few quirks. The in-house restaurant had decent food but service was very ordinary, with staff giving the impression that they had tired of the job ten years ago. silk road hotel, yazd

Day 82: The best place that we stayed in Iran, with small but simple and clean rooms, a lovely courtyard to relax in and great food.

atlas hotel, tehran

Days 80-81: A good, quiet room with an impressively sized bathroom north of Ferdosi Sqaure and very handy to our favourite restaurant in Iran.

alexandria to sharjah with air arabia

Day 79: A night spent in transit with Air Arabia from Alexandria to Sharjah, and then connecting from Sharjah to Tehran the following day. Once we boarded the plane, Air Arabia did everything right, but even so very little sleep ensued.

k-k-k-k-k-k-kathmandu

After a very wothwhile 10 days in Iran, and a night in transit in the UAE, we’ve made it as far as Kathmandu for a visit here which will prove far too brief.
As we were essentially locked out of our blog while we were in Iran it will take a few days to get […]

we’re in iran!

Hi folks. If you are reading this message, we are in Iran and cannot access our blog. For those who are concerned, you may be reassured to know that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade regards Iran as a safer country to travel in than most of the Middle Eastern countries that we’ve visited […]
